Product Features
- Highest quality traditional design Heavy-Duty Industrial Alloy Steps kitemarked to BS2037 Class 1 – max load 175kg ( 27.5stones) and designed for regular tough use.
- We have sold these proudly for 50 years but are no longer manufactured because BS Class 1 standard is now updated to EN131 Pro. These are the strongest steps on the market but when they are gone they are gone! End of an era and very sad.
- Made of thicker and stronger alloy than our standard "NESS" steps giving increased safety and much greater durability.
- Non-slip ribbed alloy treads are 80mm ( 3¼" ) deep and fitted at 250mm ( 10" ) rise. Topmost tread is 130mm ( 5" ) deep.
- “SL” and “SP” models fitted with super-strong box-section back legs 60x25mm (2¼"x1") with a robust integral hinge running full width across the steps. Heavy duty side bracing arms securely lock steps open and thick rubber feet on all steps ensure non-slip safety.
- “SF” platform models fitted with same tread front section & platform as “SP” models but have lighter duty, angle section rear legs.
- Both SF and SP Platform Steps have thick alloy chequer plate platform which automatically folds flat when steps are closed and measures approx 435mm x 250mm ( 17" x 10" ).
- Side Handrails can be fitted as an optional extra. Rails are of strong, comfortable box-section alloy 25mm square. Order 2 handrails if required on both sides. If ordering one side only, please state WHICH side! They are pre-drilled and fitted but supplied loose (with fixings) to avoid damage in transit. A 10mm spanner is required to refit handrails. Note: handrails only fit step sizes as stated below.
- Note that the Health & Safety regulations require that users never stand higher than the last tread from which they can maintain a secure handhold on the steps.
- Note the difference between Platform Height and Closed Height. Do not order steps too high!! Platform is highest standing level. Closed height is storage and transport height.
- Sizes listed still in stock for FREE NEXT-DAY DELIVERY most UK mainland but NO LONGER MADE because BS Class 1 has been dropped. Unavailable when current stock sold.

Do not order steps too high!! Note the difference between Platform Height and Closed Height.
Although the BS2037 Class 1 Industrial Duty standard is now discontinued, the HSE is perfectly happy for old standard products to stay in use for the product’s natural lifetime (which will be almost forever with these beauties!). The “discontinued” label simply means that they can no longer be manufactured and certified to that standard.
Beautiful, sturdy steps but sadly, now a discontinued range – unavailable when current stock sold.
